Sajitha Biju

I am a Plant Scientist working in the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences, Faculty of Science, The University of Melbourne. My main research focus lies in sustainable food production using physiological and biochemical approaches to explore possible pathways and cross talks leading to drought stress management in plants. I am interested in investigating the role of the mineral element Silicon (Si) in alleviating drought stress in lentil plants. I recieved various awards, scholarships and travel grants including the Australia India Research Scholarship (2023) for early career researchers, GRDC research scholarship, The Dr. Frank Cope Scholarship in Agronomy, and the Plant Nutrition Trust Award. I published in journals of repute and has presented my work in national and international conferences. Before starting with The University of Melbourne, I was working as a lecturer in the University of Kerala, India and recieved many awards including ‘The Best Woman Scientist Award’ and ‘Young Scientist Award’.
